Birthway Christian Midwifery Care
FAQ

Honest answers to your heartfelt questions.

Choosing midwifery is a deeply personal decision. Here’s what families ask us most.

Safety

Is homebirth safe?

For healthy, low-risk pregnancies, research consistently shows that planned homebirth with a qualified, licensed midwife is a safe option with low intervention rates. We screen carefully throughout your pregnancy, monitor mother and baby closely during labor, and maintain established relationships with local hospitals should a transfer ever be needed.

What if complications develop?

Most labors are low-risk and unfold beautifully at home. If anything falls outside the range of normal, we are trained to recognize it early and act calmly. We carry emergency equipment, follow clear clinical protocols, and have transfer relationships in place so that you and your baby always receive the right level of care.

Do you carry emergency equipment?

Yes. We bring everything needed to manage a low-risk birth safely at home, including oxygen, neonatal resuscitation equipment, medications to manage postpartum bleeding, IV supplies, and tools for continuous monitoring of you and your baby.

Insurance & Cost

Does insurance cover homebirth midwifery?

Coverage varies by plan. Many families receive partial reimbursement, and we are glad to provide the documentation needed to submit a claim. During your free consultation we will walk through your options honestly so there are no surprises.

Do you offer payment plans?

We do. We never want cost to be the reason a family cannot pursue the birth they hope for, so we offer flexible, interest-free payment plans spread across your pregnancy. We will tailor a plan that fits your situation.

Prenatal & Birth

What is included in prenatal care?

Comprehensive, unhurried visits — typically 45 to 60 minutes — that include clinical assessments, labs, education, and plenty of time for your questions. You see the same midwife at every appointment, building a relationship of trust long before labor begins.

Can my partner and family be present?

Absolutely. Birth is a family experience. Partners, children, parents, and chosen loved ones are warmly welcomed and gently guided in how to support you. Your home, your people, your way.

What happens after the baby is born?

We stay with you for several hours after birth to ensure mother and baby are stable, feeding is established, and you are settled. We then provide a series of postpartum home visits over the following weeks to support your recovery, your newborn, and your transition into this new chapter.

Pain & Comfort

What if I want pain relief during labor?

Homebirth relies on natural comfort measures — movement, water, breath, massage, position changes, and steady one-on-one support — which many mothers find deeply effective. Epidurals are not available at home; if pharmaceutical pain relief becomes important to you, we will discuss options and, if you choose, support a calm transfer to a hospital.

Faith Integration

How does your faith-based approach integrate with care?

Faith is woven gently and naturally through the care we offer — prayer when you welcome it, Scripture that encourages, and a posture of reverence for the sacredness of birth. It is always invitational, never imposed, and it sits alongside excellent, evidence-based clinical practice.

Do I have to be Christian to work with you?

Not at all. We serve Christian and faith-curious families alike. Whether you are deeply rooted in faith or simply drawn to a more intentional, reverent way to birth, you are welcome here and you will be cared for with the same devotion.
